BDA SURGING AHEAD WITH DEVELOPMENT

Bhubaneswar Development Authority was created by the Government of Orissa in the year 1983 under the Orissa Development Authorities Act 1982 with the objective to take up planned and systematic development of Bhubaneshwar Development Plan Area. Since its inception, BDA has been taking up all out efforts to make the Capital city one of the leading cities of the country. Taking forward this endeavour, the IIT Kharagpur was entrusted with the responsibilities of preparing the Comprehensive Development Plan of the Bhubaneshwar Development Plan Area. The CDP 2010 was prepared with a Vision to create a world class city that will not only have high end activities and centers of excellence, but also will have a distinct identity based on its rich cultural background and natural resources. Towards this end, the CDP has proposed for investment of Rs.29, 500 crores out of which Rs.15,000 crores will be public investment and the rest will come from private sources. BDA has committed itself to translate CDP proposals into a reality. It is now under active consideration of the government to constitute a high level Steering Committee under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Chief Minister and a task force under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Orissa to implement the CDP proposals in a time bound, planned systematic and holistic manner.
